Summary/Abstract: The new media paradigm has a fundamental impact on the theory and practice of liturgical broadcasts as well as on the way of perception of those directly participating in liturgical celebrations. The information society enables the data transmissions, but it also leads to relationship depletion, and the ultimate goal of communication becomes the communication itself. The endeavor to make religious life available online on the networks, is leading to the emergence of online religions, existing on the network only; man, created on God’s image and form, creates God on his standard and form. In the culture of virtual perception, “the real” and “the unreal” is being approached equally, and what more, “the seen” is being considered more realistic than “the real”. In this context, some basic questions arise: Can a virtual Christian be called a true Christian? Can a virtual pilgrimage replace the real one? There is a tendency to serve “own mass,” without the basic attributes: the matter, the form, the minister, the community of worshipers. Is the liturgical broadcast merely a substitute for participation in the liturgical celebration, or does it threaten its perception in its essential elements? The liturgical science, the sacramental pastoration, and media theory, in an interactive approach, can detect setbacks and search for solutions before they become a mass phenomenon.
