Summary/Abstract: In this article the author encourages the reader to reflect on the issue of fundamentalism from a Christian perspective. Starting from Huntington’s theory about the clash of civilizations, he presents the important problems connected with philosophy’s purely negative perception of fundamentalism, especially with reference to the search for truth. Using the example of the parable from Mt 7:24 -27, he points out the need for the existence of permanent points of reference, which in the liberal world are being eliminated. Then, as the author shows, it becomes impossible to write about fundamentalism in a strictly theoretical manner, because any fundamental conception always refers to a particular world view. This is true also of Christianity, and liberal attempts to “rework” Christianity cannot be reconciled with the teaching of Jesus Christ, who requires a very definite decision from his disciples, to be for or against Him.
