Public Funding of Health Services in Relation to the Needs and Benefits for the Elderly

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the principles of financing health services, based on the primary public funding by health insurance. The rules and amount of financing health services have been recognized in the context of the benefits intended primarily for seniors. The main aim of this article is to present the diversity of financing health services in relation to the problem of financing services for older people. The article analyzes the costs allocated to different types of benefits and trends occurring within a certain period. On selected categories of benefits, targeted primarily to seniors, they are allocated more resources but they are not yet in proportion to projected social and demographic changes.
