Summary/Abstract: Purpose – The aim of the article was to analyze and assess changes in the regulation of the risk credit activity in credit unions introduced from 2012. The paper also compares the selected credit risk regulations of credit unions and banks. Design/methodology/approach – The legal acts and recommendations analysis and their changes over time was carried out. Then the comparative analysis of risk regulation activities of credit unions and banks was undertaken. Findings – In terms of regulation risk credit activity it is observed increasing convergence of prudential norms credit unions and banks, but it is not yet full harmonization of regulation. Originality/value – Credit activity was re-regulated in the credit unions’ sector. Diagnosed differences and similarities of prudential regulation of banks and credit unions can be a premise economic decisions in credit institutions and supervision authority in Poland.
