Summary/Abstract: The article investigates a pedagogical activity of the famous Ukrainian film director and sculptor Ivan P. Kavaleridze (1887-1978) in a context of the development of cinema art education in Ukraine. The dissertant reconstructs the process of Ivan P. Kavaleridze’s formation as a pedagogue and an artist, making a deep analysis of a wide variety of sources and involving previously unknown archival sources in the academic discourse. The researcher has defined the factors that had influenced formation of Kavaleridze’s pedagogical views, as well as a structure and the peculiarities of functioning of the Ukrainian artistic cinema institutions where an artist taught.
