Summary/Abstract: The study starts by exploring the international security environment, listing some of its basic features. Then the text discusses the need for improving/changing/upgrading/transforming NATO. A second chapter focuses on NATO transformation (nature of this process, what does it mean, challenges associated with transformational processes). A third chapter explores the political transformation of NATO (cooperation with EU, different strategic partnerships, cooperation in other regions than those already listed in previous segments of the study). Then the way in which the Strategic concept evolved is explored, together with NATO efforts against global terror and with the need for better intelligence. A brief set of conclusions is the final element of the study.
