Summary/Abstract: The cannon of a given historical moment is set, in a certain sense, at the point where tradition and innovation meet, as long as its significant energies draw on both the preceding esthetic cannon and the attempt to overcome it. Undoubtedly, the changing of a cannon is always preceded by a crisis situation. The moment when literature does no longer offer any viable esthetic solutions, when the expression is no longer self-sufficient, when it no longer fulfils its primary task with gnosiological efficiency, a moment of discontinuance occurs, a crisis both at the level of the outlook upon the world and at the level of the artistic form.
