Summary/Abstract: In our study we have examined how candidates choose a higher education institution. As part of the survey, students visiting institutions’ open days were asked to evaluate 15 factors – and these factors helped us get to understand people’s preferences regarding their higher education institution choices. The analysed indicators playing a significant role in the decision-making are the following: quality of education, location, chance of getting a job after graduation and the usability of the obtained knowledge. We have used a correlation analysis to study the relationship between the institutional aspects of choice; and we have also looked at how an institution’s higher education position ranks the effects of decision-making.
