Summary/Abstract: The Tver State United Museum is one of the largest museum unions in Russia which holds valuable documentary and material evidence. In 1998 the Ostrog Bible, an unique monument of Russian literature, accidentally appears in Tver State United Museum. The text is based on Church Slavonic translations of the Biblical books dated to the end of XV century produced in Novgorod under the supervision of archbishop Genadii. Nowadays around 350 copies of the Ostrog Bible are preserved (completely or partially). For 14 years this edition has been stored at the museum depots/archives biding its time.In August of last year the Ostrog Bible was handed over for restoration to the Scientific Research Department for Book Conservation and Restoration at the All-Russian Library for Foreign Literature “M. I. Rudomino”. The book was accepted for restoration in particularly bad condition. During the meeting of the Book Concervation Council which was, also, attended by Tver Museum archive keepers, specific repair measures for the restoration of the literary monument were identified. The pages of the edition were repaired and new leather covers produced. A second life, a completely different one, can start not just for humans. The Ostrog Bible returned to Tver Museum where now after restoration it can experience a full-fledged museum life, be publicly displayed…
