Summary/Abstract: One of the foundations of excellence is social responsibility. This means that companies in their activities cannot ignore such important elements as the impact on the environment or society. Similar understanding of social responsibility was adopted in 2011 in the European Commission’s Communication on the renewed CSR strategy. Companies that are implementing the principles of Corporate Social Responsibility (e.g. following the guidelines of ISO 26000) are faced with the need to measure the impact that they actually have on different groups of stakeholders to take specific actions. While the environmental impact is relatively easy to measure, such as emissions, the social impact measurement may pose some difficulties. The purpose of this paper is to present the issues related to social impact assessment.
