Summary/Abstract: Our paper focuses on the description of the historical context in which the Latin language, spoken on the former Dacia territory, became the present Romanian language; it is a very complex phenomenon which took place during several centuries and it had linguistic consequences at all levels: phonetic, lexical and grammatical.
