Dolj cooperative institutions. The rentals

Summary/Abstract: Untilthe end of the 20th century, the emerging of the leasing cooperatives was sporadic. The peasants moved to these structures, on a wider scale, once with the increasing in number of the popular banks, the centres of the entire cooperative movement from Romania. Only in 1903, when in the Old Kingdom 700 credit cooperatives were functioning, there were also created 8 leasing cooperatives. Until the agrarian reform from 1921, the leasing cooperatives offered the peasants the possibility to work wider stripes of land, in better conditions. After 1921, they started to narrow in number, remaining very few, due to the changing in the structure of the landed property, in favour of the small properties.
