Summary/Abstract: After a long phase of standardization, in the past two decades alot of alternatives to the formal education have been enacted andpromoted in the Romanian legislation: The Curative Pedagogy, TheMontessori Pedagogy, The Waldorf Pedagogy, The FreinetPedagogy, The Jena Plan, The Step-by-Step Program. Within arelatively short span of time, they have managed to evolve andimprove, succeeding in involving an increasing number of childrenand teachers. This study aims to briefly present these educationalalternatives to the Romanian education system.
