Summary/Abstract: Constantin Cantacuzino’s map was printed at Padua in 1700 and still remains an outstanding cartographic achievement by the richness of the data included, and the precision with which they are marked on. The map provides physical (mountains, hills, rivers, lakes, marshes, forests), economic (mineral resources, bridges) and politico-administrative indices (outside the country, Turkish raya, counties, cities, villages, markets), the marked monasteries (differentiated by their dimensions and types), and some archaeological sites. The latter are the subject of this study. It’s so interesting to see well marked the ruins of the famous bridge build by the emperor Traian (Drobeta), of a Roman city from Septimius Severus’ reign or the ruins of the medieval town Turnu Roşu. In this map, a significant representation can be identified: the road built along the Olt river by the emperor Traian. From what we know about the map drawn by the great Wallachian boyard, this is also the first cartographic representation of archaeological remains, so accurately indentified.
