Summary/Abstract: The authors present the directions of industrialization divided into four stages of the industrial revolution. They spend more time on the characteristics of the fourth stage, i.e. the post-industrial era and the growth of services, i.e. faster development of the services engaged in de-industrialization processes. To illustrate the process they display the varying contribution of those sectors to the generation of GDP in Poland and abroad. Then they proceed to discuss the re-industrialization in the USA, the EU and in Poland. In conclusion, they provide a critical analysis of the ambitious yet not quite feasible plan of “Polish investment” known as Morawiecki Plan.
