Evaluating Library Services Provided Outside the Library

Summary/Abstract: Articolul descrie două dintre cele mai utilizate modalități de evaluare a serviciilor de bibliotecă: evaluarea prin sondaje și evaluarea prin teste de utilizare. Exemplele cuprinse în prezentul articol au fost prezentate de către Bo Ohrstom, director adjunct al Autorității Naționale Daneze pentru Biblioteci, în cadrul conferinței „Biblioteci fără ziduri”, 16-20 septembrie 2005, Lesvos, Grecia. Studiul prezentat demonstrează faptul că bibliotecile au progresat foarte repede, s-au dezvoltat și și-au extins serviciile, însă mai sunt multe de făcut până la „biblioteca digitală” care să răspundă tuturor problemelor potențiale ale diferitelor categorii de utilizatori. Sondajele și testele de utilizare sunt instrumente indispensabile bibliotecilor în lupta lor pentru extinderea rolului pe care-l ocupă în cadrul societății informației. The article describes two of the most usual evaluation methods for library services: assessment by polls and usage tests. The examples included had been presented by Bo Ohrstom, deputy director at The Danish National Library Authority during the 6th Libraries without Walls Conference, held in Molyvos, Lesvos, Greece, 16-20 September 2005. The study shows the quick progress of libraries, the way they developed and expanded their services, but there are many things to be done to get to the „virtual library” capable of answering to all potential problems of different user categories. Polls and usage testing are indispensable instruments for the libraries in their attempt to expand their role within information society.
