Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to present the applicability of a compact city concept on the example of actions planned for selected Wrocław urban units. The objects of the study are selected urban units with high investment potential and the planned actions described in the Study of conditions and directions of spatial development of Wrocław. The aim of these actions is to change the spatial and functional structure towards the compact city. In the case of a big city like Wrocław, it is not so much about the density of the whole spatial and functional structure as about the individual units and urban districts. The author uses a descriptive method, simple statistical methods and case study. Based on the theoretical concept of the compact city, the author assessed the possibilities of applying the compact city idea in Wrocław.
