Summary/Abstract: The problem of management remuneration in banks (especially their level and structure) was criticized in the documents regulating the financial system in the European Union. It is important to define and standardize the components of remuneration. The EBA publishes data on the number of people remunerated by banks in excess of 1 million euros a year in numerous documents. Between 2014 and 2015, the number of such people increased significantly. The number of employees employed in major banks operating in Poland is declining significantly. This is often due to the evolution of banking service distribution channels. In the Polish banking sector, the employees of the bank BZ WBK SA are the lowest paid in the analyzed banks (on average). The biggest disparities in remuneration between the bank’s president and the average remuneration of other bank employees are in Pekao S.A. The CEO of this bank in 2016 in relation to employees received a salary of 82:1.
