Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study to explain what gothic film is and which elements it has. To that end, firstly the transformations of gothic notion in the historical process are dealt with. Later on, some features of gothic art and the treated themes are included, and then the intellectual background that revealed these is examined. In the light of those themes, features and background, the evolution of gothic film in America and Europe is studied, and the forms emerged in various periods and geographies are represented. Based on these, lastly as an example of gothic film House of Usher (1960) by Roger Corman is analyzed.
