Summary/Abstract: The number of reproductive age women (RAW) is one of the most functional contingents and as a potential framework of procreation very important for the future demographic development. Its research at the level of lower territorial units (municipalities) provides an opportunity to perceive the possible revitalization centers to which the measures of population policy should be directed. This paper represents an analysis of municipalities in Serbia by the number of reprodctive age women. Firstly, the changes in the volume and dynamics of RAW and optimal RAW were analyzed and than the redistribution of municipalities by the size of RAW. At the end, these analyzes are associated with the total population of municipalities and municipalities are classified into four categories, depending on whether there has been an increase/decrease of the total population, RAW and optimal RAW of the municipality. The analysis is performed in the census years 2002/1971.
