Summary/Abstract: The article provides an interpretation of references to music (Bruckner, Strauss) in the novel "UC" by Helmut Krausser and continues to develop a model of artistic authorship. A concrete starting point is the narrator’s mysterious remark that the protagonist, the conductor Arndt Hermannstein, will conduct Bruckner within the framework of ’42. References to the history of music show how the novel develops into a literary phantasy on omnipotence, in which space becomes a metaphor for music in its aesthetic claim. This not only reveals one of the principles behind the genesis of this novel, but also how through the discussion and processing of music literature draws an outline of its own aesthetic claims.
