Summary/Abstract: One of the peculiarities of modern social-cultural space of Zaporizhia region is the development of festival movement that has become a daily routine of modern artistic life of the region and given pulse for international integration processes. In the conditions of national-cultural development of Ukrainian state in Zaporizhia region a great number of festivals appeared, their aim is the revival of national spiritual achievements. The All-Ukrainian festival-competition of music-song culture of Cossacks "Khortytsia" became a well known forum of that direction. It was held in 1990-1993 and was dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the foundation of the Zaporizhia Cossacks. The festival gave a push for revival of Cossack song traditions in the region. At that period in Zaporizhia the vivid folk bands were created, we associate them with the level of modern folk choral culture of the region such as a vocal company "Kozakyzhaporozhtsi", a chorus "Zaporizhki kozaky", a song and dance company "Zaporozhtsi". The peculiarities of historical-cultural development of Zaporizhia region is its polyethnicity. The development of artistic traditions became the inalienable component of life and the important source of ethnic identification of national groups of the region. The numeral folk bands are created in national-cultural centres. The folk festivals became an important motivation for the improvement of their performance skills. The most prestige forum of this field is the art festival of national cultures "My – ukrainski" which is held from 1998 in Prymorsk. It is a great intercultural holiday that intensifies the development of folk bands of the different ethnic centres. The main features of the development of the choral culture in Zaporizhia region at the period of independent Ukraine is the activity of the clerical choral music festivals. During 1998-2001 the festival of clerical choral music "Poite Bogy nashemu, poite" was held in Berdiansk. In 2005 the All-Ukrainian festival of clerical choral singing "Khrystos Voskrese" was founded in Zaporizhia. It became a vivid event in the musical culture of Zaporizhia region and an important factor of revival orthodox traditions there. Among the musical festivals of academic sphere, the International festival of Slavic piano music is very famous and prestige. The festival had been held on the base of Melitopol State Pedagogical University named after Bogdan Khmelnitsky since 1999 till 2012. The festival gathered and inspired the young pianists from Ukraine, Russia, Byelorus, Moldova and Bulgaria. Every year during the festival there was a presentation of Slavic piano inheritance and achievements of national composer, performance and pedagogical schools. Due to the wide programme of events such as concerts, performances, master-class of pedagogues-pianists, scientific-methodical conferences and seminars concerning musical pedagogy and piano performance, courses of extension of qualification under the aegis of National Ukrainian music union, the festival gave an unique opportunity to acquaint oneself with historical and modern achievements, current tendencies and directions of the Slavic piano art’s development. Among art projects which play an important role in the process of social-cultural development of Zaporizhzhia, the international festival-contest of child’s and junior performance art "Akordy Khortytsi" differs by its scale. During the 14 years history of the festival about 8 thousand musicians at the age of 7 to 17 from Ukraine, Byelorus, Armenia, Russia, Moldova, Germany, Austria, Serbia, China, South Korea, The United States of America took part in this competition; they demonstrated their mastery in the 5 nominations such as a soloist with the orchestra; soloistinstrumentalists and vocalists; companies; a concertmaster; the solfeggio and the theory of music. The laureates of the festival "Akordy Khortytsi" got an opportunity to take part in different international art projects at the cost of sponsors. So the aim of the festival was not only to find a talented young people, but to help them in their further artistic growth. We should add that festivals of child’s and junior creative work are rather popular phenomena in the social-cultural space of Zaporizhia region. One of the most progressive festivals of Zaporizhia region is the international festival of vocal variety art "Medovyi krai". One of the vivid events in cultural life of Zaporizhia area is the All-Ukrainian festival of wind and variety music "Tavriiski Surmy" It has been gathering professional, military, childish and educational wind orchestras in Melitopol since 2001. The festival is organized according to European examples, it copies the tradition of holding the concert events on the open grounds, defile, parade-concert of brass bands. One of the most interest art projects in Zaporizhia region is the All-Ukrainian youth festival "Perlyny sezonu". Since 1995 the festival has been presenting the creative work of young Ukrainian pop-performances from the different parts of Ukraine. Among the festivals of variety direction we also should distinguish regional festival of youth variety art "Zorepad". The mentioned above festivals are not commercial; their goal is the activation of cultural creative processes in Zaporizhia region and their inclusion into Ukrainian and international art space. Musical festivals of the region can be classified into 3 directions: academic, folk and variety. The most important thing that the holding of the festival on the territory of the region for young people, helps young musicians in self-determination and self-realization, finding their own way in music-professional development. In conditions of the lowering of the concert-toured season in the recent years, festivals began to play an important role of delivering to the people spiritual treasures, propaganda of highly qualified art. The holding of prestige festivals and competitions is one of the ways to achieve Zaporizhia the level of the artistic city which want to get a status of cultural centres of Ukraine.
