Summary/Abstract: The paper presents an identification of the most similar interglacial periods during the last 600 000 years, which has been made on the basis of the δ18O oxygen isotope curve (LR04 δ18O) analysis with the use of DTW (dynamic time warping) algorithm. The periods considered (MIS: 1, 5e, 7e, 9e, 11c, 13a, 15a) demonstrate both similarities, and differences as well, which provides their division into two types. One of them, is characterised by subtly smaller values of curve δ18O and a distinct single peak of the oxygen curve, while the other type, discloses higher values of curve δ18O and co-occurring, sometimes comparable, peaks. The similarities of these periods seem to confirm that each of them could foster interglacial conditions, which could impact further on the development of vegetation formations that were characteristic of specific climate zones. In addition, the paper contains an attempt to model the course of the oxygen isotope curve on a basis of selected Earth’s orbital parameters that are essential external factors of glacial-interglacial cycles.
