Summary/Abstract: The purposes of the work are to expand and clarify the perception of methodological principles of cognizing the circus art. Methodology. The methodology of the article is based on the problem, cultural and historical, paradigmatic and historical research methods. Scientific novelty. The methodological strategy representing scientific novelty reflects paradigmatic perspective of analysis not typical to its study – at the angle of concept of artistic paradigms, which allows to outline structuring paradigmatic hallmarks of reference of artistry features, serving as a kind of a precedent of circus phenomenon analytics in preset orientations, and formulate definition of the term «artistic paradigm of the circus art». Conclusions. The paradigm of artistry of the circus art is a constructive benchmark of cognizing conceptual foundations of the circus, outlining a broad range of questions concerning evolution of the circus art; whereas interpreting historical artistic paradigms of art, paradigmatic approach may help build diffusional, permeable connections in regular approaches to a detailed study of artistry criteria and substantively formulate causal structures and paradigmatic references at the general scientific level of cognition.
