Summary/Abstract: The article gives the concepts “Apollonian” and “Dionysian” beginnings in art which found reflection and development in the Russian culture of the first third of the 19th century on the example of an arts-and-crafts subject from the collection of the Moscow State Museum of A. S. Pushkin and a phenomenon of Imperial Lyceum of Tsarskoye Selo as a sample of education and up-bringing. Relying on A. S. Pushkin’s poetry the author opens the concept “symposy” on the example of lyceum students’ celebration tradition of opening the Lyceum on the 19th of October as the integrating spiritual event.
