Relevance of antique heritage study of (On the example of A. S. Pushkin museum exposition)

Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on the concepts of antiquity and the symbol. Based on the museum passport the author analyses an object of art of French origin (made of bronze) from A. S. Pushkin museum exposition. The analysis considers the object from the point of view of antique symbols and plots and their semantic transformation in classicism style. The carried-out analysis allows the author to talk about the symbol as an ideological notion having the semantic density and capable both of relaying meanings, and accepting other shades in historical, cultural and art processes.
