Summary/Abstract: The main purpose of this paper is to analyze the spatial characteristics of riverside areas in the context of their impact on the physical activity of the youth. The authors made a comparative analysis of two different areas (case studies) including selected parts of the Odra river in Wroclaw and evaluated their assessment at selected criteria including spatial factors (buildings, natural features, safety, nuisance elements recreation) based on a review of literature. The evaluation was based on field studies which lead to the recognition of the space characteristics and behaviors of the users. As a result of the analysis the extent and nature of the impact of the above factors and demonstrated significant differences arising from the location were defined.
