Sound images of Hans Zimmer: from classics to African polyphony

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the research is to explore the creative work of Hans Zimmer, an American composer. Methodology. The methodology of research includes such methods as observation, analytical and theoretical generalization. This methodological approach allows us monitoring of works of Hans Zimmer, a leading American film composer. It gives us an opportunity to analyse film scores, video interviews and audio-visual works and conduct theoretical generalization of the functioning of the audio image in the American film music. Scientific novelty. The author is the first who explores Hans Zimmer’s film music, identifies the ideas of the disclosure musical drama film by means of various types, and establishes the relationship of sound images typical for creative style of the composer. Conclusions. The importance of analysis of the musical materials of the leading US film composers of the recent two decades and its comparing with the works of Ukrainian cinematography are considered.
