Summary/Abstract: The notion of multilingualism constitutes only the basis for a more detailed analysis of the social and individual development of the contemporary German language, taking into account political, cultural and social aspects. The results of various studies reflect constant changes that a new variety of German – Patchwork-Deutsch (Patchwork-German) – has been undergoing. One of the first examples of Patchwork-Deutsch might be “Babo” – the youth word of the year for 2013, which has been introduced to the youth and political German language by a German rapper of Turkish-Kurdish origin, Aykut Anhan. The research has been based on the publication of “100% Jugendsprache 2016”, by Langenscheidt. The author of the article has analysed the mechanisms of generating new words and phrases in the area of youth language. Creating the youth code is to a large extent based on taking over words from other languages as well as creating neologisms.
