Summary/Abstract: The focus of the article is a diachronic analysis of the meanings of a few Polish names of alcohol: wódka (vodka), gorzałka (booze) and likwor (liqueur). As the author points out, any interpretations of old texts containing these names need to be based on the considerations of the senses each of them had at that time – lack of such an attitude can cause misinterpretations.
