Summary/Abstract: Prof. Dr. Radu Ciuceanu is one of the last representatives of the anti-communist resistance and one of the few survivors of the Pitești Experiment, having served 15 years in prison because he opposed the installation of the communist regime. Since1989, he has been actively involved in Romanian public life, being part of the first post-revolutionary government. He is now the director of the National Institute for the study of Totalitarianism of the Romanian Academy. His scientific work represents a significant contribution to the reconstruction of the history of totalitarianism in Romania.
