Summary/Abstract: The author presents and analyses the constitutional basis of accession of Slovenia to the European Union. Slovenia adopted a special constitutional act in order to regulate the transfer of a part of its sovereignty to international organisations and therefore also to the European Union. The author's interest is focused on Article 3(a) which, in accordance with the abstract approach, laid down the constitutional basis for the decision on Slovenia's accession to the European Union. The article also presents the constitutional bases for the accession of other states to the European Union. It compares those bases to find out the similarities and differences between them.
