Summary/Abstract: The new leadership in Tehran changes its speech. Hassan Rohani’s coming to power in 2013 is a key moment for the situation in the region. For eight years, Iran, under Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, had an extremely tough position against the United States, and now it is in a precarious economic situation and the sanctions imposed by the international organizations have done nothing but deepen the discontent of the Iranian people. Winning the elections, Rohani promises a change, and a diplomatic solution in the Iranian nuclear dossier, so that sanctions will be lifted. However Tehran’s measures and its position to Israel remain rather hostile and supportive to Hamas and the Assad regime in Syria.
