Summary/Abstract: The work shows the role of the Faculty of Law of Subotica, during the short time of its existence in the legal, cultural and social life of the first common state of southern Slavs. After the introduction to the legal tradition in Vojvodina, the paper presents the facts gathered from the rich archive of the Faculty of Law of Subotica, stored in the Historical Archive of Subotica. Particular attention has been put on the organization of courses which, in that time, aimed at maintaining the establishment of legal system of the new state and broadening of the national awareness, and on professors as well, taking into account that some of them became the most famous names of Serbian legal thought.
