Summary/Abstract: The author makes a detailed analysis of the grounds for divorce in ecclesiastical law, which perceives the idea of divorce from three angles: epektasis, love and eschatology. The author gives numerous examples and illustrations, and concludes that the difference between the secular and the ecclesiastical concepts of divorce derives from the opposite concepts of marriage. There is an antinomy or mutual incompatibility between the marriage of co-existence and the Sacraments; the marriage of equality and love; oblivion and irrelevance of guilt and permanent moral improvement; hedonism and sense of temptation; express sensory satisfaction and neocracy – a strong and permanent condition of virtue, for love as blissful and wise victim; provisorium and eschatology; man’s standards and God’s criteria.
