Summary/Abstract: The paper draws attention to the problem of depopulation in the Republic of Srpska, and in that context, to the occurrence of giving birth to children of higher birth order (fourth, fifth, sixth and so on). A research done by the Council for the children of the Republic of Srpska found that only 3% of children have been born in this status, which is not target contingent for the renewal of the population. However, this research has also shown that the position of big families in our society is not favourable nor is the position of children born in such families. The existing measures taken by the society and directed to these families are mainly socio-protective in character (and mostly in the domain of child protection). They are aimed at making balanced and appropriate conditions to fulfil obstructed development needs of children who live in those families.
