Summary/Abstract: The article examines an important aspect of the migration policy of the Ottoman Empire in the Bulgarian lands during the first half of the 19th century: the efforts of the Ottoman rule for repatriation of the emigrated in the territories north of the Danube River (in Wallachia, Moldova and Southern Russia) population. Many unexplored in the historiography questions are explored in the publication: about the aims of the Ottoman remigration policy, its means and results. Many Bulgarian and foreign studies concerning the problem, published and unpublished documents from Bulgarian, Turkish, Romanian and Russian archives are used in the article.
