Summary/Abstract: The folklore songs in the novel “Under the Yoke” by Ivan Vazov present a specific cipher, developing and transforming the main implies of the text. The systematically meaningful points of their appearance, and their semantic dependence to the context need a detailed study. The present work marks only some of the problems, appearing when a non-literary text is incorporated in a literary one. At that point arises a co-influence of two basically different semiotic systems, two different types of artistic convention. The paper is focused on the problems of competition and coherence between these two systems in those certain textual knots.
