Summary/Abstract: In this first part of the article, we aim to offer, in a greater detail, a presentation of what means, firstly geographically speaking, Sub-Saharan Africa or, as it is also known, the black Africa. We have also mentioned cruel realities of life in the south of Sahara, like famine, poverty, slavery, epidemics or wars. Then, we wanted to follow history from the first humans that inhabited the African territory, until its decolonization. Sub-Saharan Africa is a fragmented space, with a remarkable diversity, but united by a common item: French language.
