Summary/Abstract: The past of concentration camps is one of the pages of history often overlooked in the educational process. This is not a good situation because the issue of World War II and the existence of the death camps is extremely important. The purpose of this article is to draw attention to the extremely responsible task that teachers and educators have to encounter. This is to show and to sensitize the youth to issues of German concentration camps in Poland. The need for the specified topic is by all means justified. Beginning with the cognitive values the student extends learning the history of the concentration camps, through sensitivity to the suffering of others and ending with building their national identity. The quoted studies prove that young people have a lot to learn in this field, and often feel the need to deepen their knowledge. In addition, attention was drawn to methods and forms of work that can facilitate the introduction of young people to the difficult reality of the camp. The article ends with statements of students who report on their impressions after visiting the area of the State Museum at Majdanek.
