Summary/Abstract: In this paper, our main focus is to present a complementary situation, that talks about the one responsible for teaching the discipline of Religion, the Religion teacher, and in this case, to see the benefits and the downsides of him being either member of the clergy, as a priest or deacon, or by being a layperson, thus not being part of the clergy, but representing, somewhat, the people. Of course, we know that in Romania, because the topic is focused on the Romanian educational system, a Religion teacher can be part of either one of the mentioned groups, either being part of the clergy or not, even though the biggest percentage of Religion Discipline teacher is held by non-clerical teachers. We will divide our paper into two different sections, one that speaks about the pros and downs of having a priest as a Religion teacher, and a second section that presents the characteristics of a layperson as a Religion teacher, in both cases trying to make an objective and academic point of view on both of the situations.
