Summary/Abstract: At the beginning of each new study, there appears the question of the analysis of the bibliographic sources, in order to appreciate the novelty of the subject, how deeply it was studied by other authors, and whether it deserves to be approached in a new research. Our study is no exception; the article is dedicated to a brief review of the most important works on the subject of the traditional Bulgarian dwelling and its influence on the housing of the Bulgarian settlers in Bessarabia. THe article reflects the main directions of the study: the fundamental works of the Bulgarian researchers, whose analysis allows to create an overview of the development of the traditional Bulgarian dwellings; studies of Russian researchers during the period of the Russian Empire; Soviet and contemporary Moldovan authors, whose works, in one way or another, reflect the development of Bulgarian houses in Bessarabia, as well as their role in the formation of the material and spiritual culture of Bulgarian settlers. At the same time, we have tried to reflect the degree of investigation of this issue in the Romanian publications regarding the relevant period. Thus, it has been possible to identify the degree of research on this subject and those areas where it is worthwhile to advance in the future.
