Summary/Abstract: The single EU financial market found itself facing great challenges of the financial crisis. The Member States have, to a significant extent, surrendered the mitigation of such consequences to the European legislator. In such circumstances, the idea of establishing the Banking Union seemed like quite a logical upgrade to the existing integration network among the Member States, in order to ensure the stability of the Union's macroeconomic system. A significant contribution to this process has been made with the adoption of two new legislative acts, through the strongest legislative act of Union - Regulations, concerning the establishment and functioning of the Single Supervisory Mechanism. The aim of this paper is to show in what manner the above specified influenced the creation of "yet another round of integration."
