Contribution of prof. Želimir Rukavina to studying customs and the past of Muslims in Montenegro (Nikšić, Podgorica)

Summary/Abstract: In this paper, the author analyzes the texts of prof. Želimir Rukavina on Nikšić and Podgorica Muslims published in the "Muslim Consciousness" of 1938 and 1939, especially analyzing the ideological political discourse in the emergence of these texts in the effort of the efforts of a part of the Croatian intelligentsia to sit in the Croatian National Corps in the spirit of learning Ante Stačević and the Montenegrin Muslims. The texts of Želimir Rukavina and the reaction to the same are important sources in the study of the evolution of the building of the identity of the Muslims there. The author deals with the work of Rukavina as a professor of the Nikšić Gymnasium, and the possible reason for the interest of this professor of geography for the above topics.
