Summary/Abstract: Citing Jean Monnet, the founder of the EU, who said that «We do not FORM a coalition of states, we unite people», the author of the present article analyses the pros and cons regarding Turkey’s joining the EU in 2015. These opinions take into consideration the 20th century history of this Muslim state, its refusal to critically assess its past marred by the genocide against the Armenians, its present social, political and economic situation. To this one should add the reactions within the EU regarding its recent and future enlargement.
