Summary/Abstract: Pope Francis`s Laudato si’ encyclical is a valuable document, which gives us a current knowledge of ecology and shows the Church`s view on it in its different aspects. According to the Pope, a catechesis is an important means to transmit the information. Not only should its role be limited to passing the knowlegde. Ecological upbringing of students has an essential meaning here. It should form a proper Christian lifestyle that shows a concern about the environment and a respect to the world and its Creator. Thus, a modern catechesis should take into account the Pope`s view on ecology and include it in the educational process in order to form a mature personality, able to co-exist with other people and the nature, and grateful to God for creation.
