Summary/Abstract: The Russian emigrant intelligentsia is a subject of increased research interest not only in Russia but also in the host countries since its creative presence in the intellectual life of Europe gave new impetus to the development of European science and culture. In terms of its number and historical significance, Russian emigration to Bulgaria in the interwar period is comparable to the “Russkoe Zarubezhie” in Paris, Prague, Belgrade. The purpose of this research is to show its professional realization and social integration in Interwar Bulgaria in the light of the labor statistics coming from the 1920 and 1926 Bulgarian population censuses. We have made a thorough and comprehensive quantitative characterization of the participation of Russian emigrant intelligentsia’s economically active part in the different sectors, sub-sectors and (groups of) professions in the Bulgarian economy, as well as to reveal its social structure, to specifically outline the role and place of Russian women in labor and society.
