Accumulation of Official Reserve Assets in Poland

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to identify changes in the value and structure of official reserve assets (ORA) in Poland and attempt to determine the causes of changes in their level in the period 1994–2015. In the first part tendencies and reasons of ORA’s level changes were presented, and in the second the changes in their structure. The research shows that in the period 1995–2013 accumulation of ORA was the result of foreign savings while in the period 2013–2015 of domestic savings. Structure of ORA by type was determined mainly by foreign receivables denominated in US dollars and euro, because of its key role in the function of world currency and in commercial transactions and payments between member states of EU.
