Summary/Abstract: Nosocomial infections largely concern health professionals. The increased range of medical services and surgical procedures leads to an increased incidence of hepatitis B (HBV) and C (HCV) infections among this professional group. The main cause of nosocomial infections among people working in the healthcare sector is occupational diseases resulting from exposure to biological agents in the line of official duties. According to WHO, every year the world’s 3 million health workers are exposed to percutaneous contact with blood-borne pathogens. The aim of the study was to assess medical staff knowledge concerning the incidence of acute hepatitis B and C.
