Summary/Abstract: The article offers a detailed analysis of the formation of place names (agronyms) of one sub-class in the interwar Marijampolė County, which have been formed out of anthroponyms, appellatives names of persons, ethnonyms, etc. Agronyms are examined in the context of formation applying classification compiled for hydronyms, by which they are divided into primary and secondary, and the latter are further divided into derivatives (with prefixes, suffixes or endings), compounds and phrasal hydronyms.
